Day 1 

Welcome to Colombia! Upon arrival in Bogotá, we’ll meet our guide at the airport and head to our hotel to rest and acclimate—after all, we’re now at 2,600 meters (8,500 feet) above sea level.

For those who are up for it, we can go out for a delicious dinner and take an evening walk through the charming, historic district of La Candelaria.

Day 2

Today, we will be in the Andes Mountains,“2,600 meters closer to the stars.” We’ll enjoy the views from Monserrate, the hill towering over the city. Later we will walk through the colorful streets of La Candelaria, famous for its stunning murals. Our stroll will lead us to Bolívar Square, home to some of the country’s most important buildings.

We won’t miss a visit to the impressive Gold Museum, and for those interested in contemporary art, the Botero Museum is a must-see. Along the way, we’ll sample classic Bogotá street food, sip on freshly brewed coffee, and warm up with a canelazo, a local fruit-infused brew.

Day 3

After breakfast at the hotel, we’ll head to the airport and catch a flight to Pereira, a city in the heart of Colombia’s famous coffee region. From there, we’ll travel by minibus and make our way to the colorful town of Salento, our home for the next two days. Here, we’ll slow down and emjoy the vibe of the Colombian countryside.

Welcome to the Eje Cafetero, Colombia’s legendary coffee axis—a region of mountain landscapes, lush green hills, and picturesque coffee plantations. The area is also known for its charming “pueblitos” with traditional architecture. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011, many say this is the most beautiful part of Colombia—and we’re about to find out why!

Day 4

In the morning, we’ll hop into traditional Willys jeeps, the emblematic transport of the region, and head to the Cocora Valley. Time to see the amazing wax palms—the tallest in the world, reaching up to 60 meters (200 feet)—set against lush green mountains.

We’re in for an exciting challenge as we take on a 6-hour trek through the valley, exploring its incredible scenery. Along the way, we’ll make a stop at the Hummingbird Sanctuary, where we can spot these tiny, colorful birds in their natural habitat. Did you know they can flap their wings up to 70 times per second?

Day 5

Today we are getting ready for an exciting mountain biking adventure through Salento. This area offers a variety of trails for all skill levels, while you enjoy the stunning landscapes of the coffee region. Let’s get ready to pedal, enjoy the fresh mountain air, and immerse ourselves in the natural beauty. It will be an unforgettable day on two wheels!

A popular route is the Carbonara trail, known for its scenic beauty and moderate difficulty. If you’re ready for a challenge, the Alegría trail is an expert-level route that promises thrilling descents and breathtaking views.

In Salento, we can also visit a local coffee farm, see how coffee is grown and processed, and of course, enjoy a freshly brewed cup of coffee.”

Day 6

After breakfast, we’ll head to the airport in Pereira and fly to Medellín, the City of Eternal Spring, and the capital of the Antioquia region. Known for its perfect weather (avg 27º) Medellín is a vibrant metropolis that has become a favorite destination for tourists and expats, offering a mix of museums, restaurants, bars, and clubs—there’s something for everyone!
One of the coolest spots to visit in Medellín is Comuna 13, a neighborhood that tells the story of Colombia’s past conflicts. Famous for its colorful street art, blacklight shops,street dance and alternative culture.

In the afternoon, we’ll get a unique view of the city from above, riding the Metrocable, a cable car system that takes locals up to mountain neighborhoods. It’s an amazing way to see Medellín from a different perspective.

Day 7

Today, we’re heading out for a full-day trip to the nearby town of Guatapé, famous for being one of the most colorful towns in Colombia. Our main highlight will be climbing El Peñol Boulder—a massive rock with 700 steps, where we’ll be rewarded with a view of green mountains and sparkling blue lakes.

In the afternoon, we’ll take a relaxing cruise around the lagoon, passing by landmarks like the ruins of Pablo Escobar’s former villa and other “haciendas”. On our way back, we’ll stop by a local coffee plantation, where we’ll learn all about the process of growing and producing Colombia’s famous coffee—from harvest to brewing. And, of course, we’ll taste some freshly brewed Colombian Arabica.

Day 8

After breakfast and check-out from the hotel, we’ll transfer to the airport for our flight to Bucaramanga, the capital of the Santander region. From there, we’ll continue by private transport to San Gil, known as the adventure sports capital of Colombia. Once we arrive, we’ll check in at the hotel and then head out to explore this charming town.

Day 9

After breakfast, we’ll take local transport to the charming town of Barichara, known for its picturesque cobblestone streets and colonial architecture. We’ll have some time to explore the town before starting a relaxed 10 km trek to the nearby town of Guane. Along the way, we’ll enjoy the beautiful scenery and tranquil atmosphere.

Once we reach Guane, we’ll stop for a well-deserved lunch before heading back to San Gil by local transport. Afterward, we’ll return to the hotel to relax.

Day 10

After breakfast, we will go for an unforgettable adventure! We’ll start the day by paragliding over the Chicamocha Canyon, enjoying breathtaking aerial views. Once we land, we’ll head straight to the pontoons for an exciting 2-hour rafting trip on the powerful Chicamocha River.

The Chicamocha Canyon is the second largest canyon in the world, located about 50 km from Bucaramanga in the Santander region. This place is nominated to be included in the list of the 7 natural wonders of the world.

 After our rafting adventure, we’ll enjoy a well-deserved lunch in a local village before returning to San Gil to relax and rest.

Day 11

After breakfast and check-out, we’ll transfer by private transport to the airport in Bucaramanga (5-hour drive). From there, we’ll catch a flight to Cartagena, a city full of centuries-old history. Once a powerful Spanish colony and one of the most important ports in the region, Cartagena is a must-see destination.

With its colonial monuments, amazing gastronomy, and lively Caribbean vibe, it’s a city that offers something for everyone. In the evening, we’ll experience the unique atmosphere that makes Cartagena so special, perhaps with a refreshing cocktail or fruit juice.

Day 12

Cartagena de Indias is a city with a rich, centuries-old history. Once a powerful Spanish colony and one of the most important ports in the region, it’s a place full of stories. One of the best ways to explore its history is by taking a walk through the picturesque colonial old town with a local guide. We’ll visit the key monuments and learn about the fascinating past of this beautiful city.

But Cartagena isn’t just about history—today, it’s buzzing with life! We’ll find tons of pubs, bars, art galleries, and of course, the Caribbean vibe. In the evening, we’ll have the chance to enjoy it all.

Day 13

It’s our penultimate day in Colombia, and we’re in for a relaxing and luxurious treat! We’ll sail by boat to one of the stunning private Rosario Islands, known for its vibrant coral reefs and calm blue waters.

The day includes a delicious lunch on the island, a refreshing welcome drink, a comfy sun lounger to chill on, and the option to rent a kayak if we feel like exploring the crystal-clear waters.

Day 14

It’s our last day in Colombia! We’ll spend the day picking up some last-minute souvenirs and taking a final stroll around the city to delight in those last views. Then, we’ll say our goodbyes to Colombia and our amazing guides as we head to the airport for our flight back from Cartagena.

Day 15

After breakfast, those of us ready to take on the challenge and continue the adventure will head to Santa Marta, a 6-hour journey. Once we arrive at the hotel, we’ll have a quick walk around the area, enjoy a delicious lunch, and then get everything ready for tomorrow’s exciting trek to the Lost City. Let the adventure begin!

Day 16

“The ruins of Ciudad Perdida are 650 years older than Peru’s Machu Picchu. Once home to thousands of people, the city still amazes with over 160 terraces carved into the mountainside, stone roads, and circular squares. The Lost City was rediscovered by anthropologists in 1976 but it is still owned by indigenous communities. Tourist visits are carefully controlled, meaning fewer travelers compared to Machu Picchu or those in Mexico.”

After breakfast and check-out, we’ll begin our 4-day trek to Ciudad Perdida. We’ll depart from the hotel at 09:00 and take a 3-hour 4×4 ride to the village of El Mamej. Here we will have delicious lunch  and then we’ll walk for about 4 hours to reach our first base camp, where we’ll be staying for the night. Mosquito nets are provided for our comfort. We’ll enjoy a hearty dinner at the camp before settling in for the night, either in hammocks or dormitory-style beds.

Day 17

Early wake-up and breakfast start the day! We will have a two-hour hike from Camp 1 towards the indigenous village of Mutanzi.

After exploring the village, we’ll take a 40-minute walk to Camp 2, where a tasty lunch will be waiting for us. Once we have recharged our energy, we’ll continue our journey with a 4-hour hike until we reach Camp 3.

Mosquito nets will be provided to keep us comfortable, and after a long day of trekking, we’ll enjoy a well-earned dinner at the camp. We’ll spend the night in hammocks or shared rooms with beds, ready for another day of adventure tomorrow!

Day 18

Early wake-up, breakfast, and we’re off! We’ll leave Camp 3 early and hike for about 1 hour to our destination—the Lost City. Once we arrive, we’ll have 2-hours of free time to explore the ancient ruins and take in the breathtaking views.

After our time at the Lost City, we’ll head back to Camp 3 for lunch. Once we’ve refueled, we’ll continue our hike for 4 hours towards Camp 2. After a long day of exploring and trekking, we’ll enjoy a dinner at the camp and spend the night in hammocks or shared rooms with beds, ready for the final stretch of our adventure!

Day 19

After an early breakfast, we’ll depart from Camp 2 for our last hike, which will take about 7 hours as we make our way back to the village of El Mamey, where our journey first began. Once we arrive, we’ll enjoy a well-deserved lunch before hopping into a 4×4 for a ride back to Santa Marta.

At the hotel, we’ll find our luggage waiting for us, and we’ll have the rest of the day to relax and chill out We’ll spend the night in a double room, resting up after an incredible adventure!

Day 20

It’s the end of our expedition! After saying our farewells to the guides, we’ll catch a flight from Santa Marta back to Bogotá. From there, it’s time to head home, filled with amazing memories from this incredible adventure.

What’s included in the price?

Accommodation for 13 nights (14 days) or 19 nights (20 days) with a Lost City Trek. Depending on the location, lodging is provided in 3-star or 4-star hotels in double rooms with private bathrooms. During treks to Lost City** we sleep in the nature.
Breakfasts included. During the treks to Lost City, three meals will be provided per day.

Domestic flights on the following routes: Bogotá – Pereira, Pereira – Medellin Medellin – Bucaramanga, Bucaramanga – Cartagena.
Local transportation: local minibus, taxi, or jeep on the following routes: San Gil – Bucaramanga (round trip), Medellin – Guatape (round trip) and during the trek to Cocora Valley. Cartagena to Santa Marta for the Lost City Trek.
