Indigenous local guide in the Amazon jungle
My name is Joaquin Jair Vasquez Tenazoa, I am 25 years old, and I am from the indigenous ethnic group called Cocama. I am currently dedicated to the sustainable tourism project that I have started in my local community called Siete de Agosto. This project helps me, my family and the whole community to grow. It all started when I was 14, I used to work for the travel agency in Leticia where I became a guide and learned a lot about how to work with visitors from all over the world. However, I was exploited there so soon I decided to start my own local business called Coya Amazonas Tours which I have been trying to develop since.
We are located in the small indigenous village at the banks of the Atacuari river, one of the tributaries of the Amazon River, far from civilization and from the touristic part of the region. If you come to visit us, you can not only enjoy the stunning nature of Amazon, see monkeys, birds, caimans, pink dolphins, sloths etc but you can also experience the authentic local life and become a member of our community for a few days.
